Trkiye to export 48 fighter jets to Indonesia under new agreement

ANKARA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday that his country has signed a defense agreement with Indonesia to export 48 units of its domestically developed fighter jet, KAAN.

"I hope that this agreement, which reveals the development and point reached by our domestic and national defense industry, will be beneficial for Trkiye and Indonesia," Erdogan said on social media platform X where he also shared a video of the aircraft.

Indonesia's local capabilities will also be utilized in the production of KAAN, he said.

Erdogan praised the agreement as a symbol of the deepening ties between Trkiye and Indonesia, referring to Indonesia as a "friend and brother."

The Turkish Aerospace Industries, a major defense and aviation company in Trkiye, designed, developed, and produced KAAN, the country's first national combat aircraft.
