MAJOR SCI-TECH ISSUES
The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) has released the major issues in science, engineering and technology, as well as industrial technology, for 2022.
A total of 30 issues, including the early diagnosis of asymptomatic Alzheimer's disease, the formation and evolution of black holes in the universe, the application of remote sensing to effectively assess the Earth's health and the industrialization of memory-computation integrated chips, were highlighted during the closing ceremony of the CAST's annual conference on Monday in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province.
Chinese regulators have released an action plan on boosting industrial energy efficiency, detailing major targets and tasks to optimize the energy structure as the country takes steady steps to spur green transformation.
By 2025, China aims to achieve a comprehensive improvement in the energy efficiency of major industrial sectors, a substantial rise in energy efficiency in key areas such as data centers, and an increase in the proportion of green low-carbon energy use, according to the plan jointly released by six government departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
AUTOMATED CONTAINER TERMINAL
The first phase of China's first sea-rail intermodal automated container terminal went into operation Tuesday in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
A ship loaded with goods from Indonesia became the first vessel to moor at the wharf in Qinzhou port. It left for Southeast Asia with China-made goods including auto parts, glass and chemicals on Tuesday.
