HONG KONG -- The Executive Council (ExCo) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Tuesday considered and endorsed a package of proposals to re-organize the structure of the HKSAR government, upon the request of the sixth-term chief executive designate.

Expected to take effect from July 1, the package comprises various proposals initiated by current-term Chief Executive of the HKSAR Carrie Lam in her 2021 policy address, and additional proposals sought by the sixth-term chief executive designate. (Hong Kong-Government Restructure)

COLOMBO -- Two Sri Lankan parliamentarians, Sanath Nishanatha and Milan Jayathilake, were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) on Tuesday over attacks on protesters in Colombo on May 9.

The CID also arrested former provincial council member Amal Silva and an employee of the Moratuwa Urban Council over the same charge.

The Attorney General on Monday instructed the police to arrest and produce the 22 suspects including several parliamentarians in connection with the violence. (Sri Lanka-Arrest-Parliamentarians)

DHAKA -- The highest economic policy-making body of Bangladesh on Tuesday approved a 2.46 trillion-taka Annual Development Program (ADP) for the next fiscal year 2022-23 (July 2022-June 2023).

The fresh ADP for 2022-23 fiscal year is around 9.21 percent higher than the original ADP of the current fiscal year 2021-22 (June 2021-July 2022). (Bangladesh-ADP-Approval)

JAKARTA -- As the number of reported COVID-19 cases is showing a declining trend over the past few weeks, the Indonesian government announced Tuesday that the use of face masks would no longer be mandatory in outdoor spaces.

"The government has decided to lift more restriction policy. Wearing face masks is no longer mandatory when doing outdoor activities or gathering in outdoor spaces. However, people still have to wear masks indoors and inside public transportations," Indonesian President Joko Widodo told a virtual press conference. (Indonesia-Mask Policy-Lift)
