JAKARTA -- Indonesia issued an emergency use authorization for Sinovac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Zififax COVID-19 booster vaccines on Monday.

At a virtual press conference, Penny Lukito, head of the country's food and drug agency (BPOM), said the shots will be given to groups who are at high risk of getting coronavirus such as elderly people and healthcare workers before they are administered to the general public. DHAKA -- Amid a fresh surge in COVID-19 cases, Bangladesh's Cabinet Division Monday issued a circular with the 11-point directives to be effective from Jan. 13.

In line with the directives, people must wear masks at all gatherings, shopping malls and restaurants. Otherwise, they will face legal actions, said the circular.

Buses and trains should be operated at half capacity. All sorts of open-air gatherings, including social, political and cultural functions were banned amid fears of the spread of the omicron, a highly contagious COVID-19 variant. (Bangladesh-COVID-19)

KABUL -- A cargo flight carrying a fresh shipment of pine nuts left the Afghan capital Kabul for China on Monday, authorities said.

"About 45 tons of pine nuts will be transported by today's cargo flight to Shanghai, China, that marks the first flight carrying a shipment of pine nuts to China in 2022," Sabawoon Ahmadzai, who is in charge of chartered cargo flights of the Afghan private airline Kam Air, told Xinhua. MACAO -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) will work to complete amendment of its law on safeguarding national security within this year, Wong Sio Chak, secretary for security of the Macao SAR government, said on Monday.

The draft amendment of the law is under preparation, and will be released for public consultations as soon as possible, Wong told reporters after attending activities marking the Chinese People's Police Day. (Macao-National Security-Legislation)
