DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 1,452 new COVID-19 cases and 60 new deaths on Saturday, making the tally at 760,584 and death toll at 11,510, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

KATHMANDU -- The Nepali government on Saturday reported a record high spike in COVID-19 cases with the second wave of coronavirus hitting the Himalayan country hard.

"A total of 5,763 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours," Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population said on Saturday. The last record of highest coronavirus cases in a day was reported on October 21 last year, when the Nepali government reported 5,743 cases. (Nepal-COVID-19)

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 4,512 within one day to 1,672,880, with the death toll adding by 131 to 45,652, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

According to the ministry, 4,344 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1,526,978. (Indonesia-COVID-19)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia reported 2,881 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, bringing the national total to 411,594.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Saturday 9,226 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 1,046,653.

BANGKOK -- Thailand on Saturday confirmed 1,891 new COVID-19 cases and 21 more fatalities, according to the country's Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Of the new cases, 1,884 were domestic infections while seven others were imported cases, CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin told a press conference. (Thailand-COVID-19)
