LAGOS -- Nigerian police said a national crackdown has been launched on all criminal activities to make the country safe, after reports of suspected hoodlums hiding under the guise of protesters to loot and destroy public and private assets.

BANGKOK -- Thai health authorities Sunday said COVID-19 virus was found on the surface of fitness equipment in a hotel gym where an infected patient was quarantined.

LAGOS -- At least six Boko Haram militants were killed by Nigerian police in a gunfight as they attempted to take over a community in the northeastern state of Yobe, a police spokesperson said Sunday.

The police engaged the Boko Haram militants in a gunfight on Saturday, as they targeted Babangida town in Tarmuwa local government area of the state, Dungus Abdulkarim, the police spokesperson, told Xinhua in Damaturu, the state capital. (Nigeria-Militants-Attack)

JAKARTA -- As many as 253 medical staff members in Indonesia have died during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to an official on Sunday.

NEW DELHI -- The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients Sunday increased to almost 90 percent, India's health ministry said.

ISLAMABAD -- Police in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi arrested two militants after a clash, local media reported on Sunday.

VICTORIA -- Seychelles opposition candidate Wavel Ramkalawan from the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa party (Seychelles Democratic Union) won the presidential election with 54.9 percent of total votes, said electoral commission chairman Danny Lucas on Sunday.
