MANILA -- Two suspected rebels have been killed in a clash with government troops in Zamboanga del Norte in the southern Philippines, the military said on Sunday.
Major Arvin Encinas, the spokesperson for the military's Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said troops clashed with an undetermined number of New People's Army rebels on Friday afternoon in a forested village near Kalawit town in Zamboanga del Norte while conducing combat operation in the area.

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 1,681 within one day to 75,699, with the death toll adding by 71 to 3,606, Achmad Yurianto, a Health Ministry official, said at a press conference here on Sunday.
According to him, 919 more people had been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 35,638.

HOUSTON -- Two police officers were killed Saturday in the city of McAllen in southern Texas while responding to a domestic disturbance call and the suspect shot himself dead, local authorities said.
The officers were shot by the suspect when approaching the door of a home, McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez told a press conference.
