SEOUL -- The sentence on former South Korean President Park Geun-hye was reduced to 20 years in prison on Friday in a retrial of the corruption scandal that led to the impeachment of the former head of state, according to local media.

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- An Indian army trooper was killed in an exchange of fire with Pakistan army Friday on the Line of Control (LoC), dividing Kashmir, officials said.

NEW DELHI -- Four Naxals rebels were killed Friday in a gunfight with government forces in India's eastern state of Bihar, police said.

KABUL -- Afghan forces have killed nine militants and foiled Taliban attempts to gain ground in Musakhil district of the eastern Khost province, said a statement of Defense Ministry on Friday.

Taliban militants stormed some security checkpoints in Musakhil district late Thursday, triggering heavy fighting but the troops backed by fighting planes struck the attacking insurgents, killing nine and wounding seven others, forcing the insurgents to flee, the statement contended. JAKARTA -- Indonesian authorities have arrested seven people on suspicion of illegal logging in West Kalimantan province's district of Kapuas Hulu, a local police officer said on Friday.

SEOUL -- The funeral for Park Won-soon, the longest-serving mayor of South Korea's capital, will be held for five days after he was found dead in a Seoul mountain, the city government said Friday.

Park's funeral will last for five days in the fashion of a mayoral funeral, unlike a three-day general funeral. A memorial altar will be set up in front of the City Hall in central Seoul Friday afternoon to allow citizens to mourn his death. (South Korea-Seoul Mayor-Funeral)
