Babies found with HIV in Uzbekistan hospital

Jakarta News.Net
Wednesday 12th November, 2008

Health authorities in Uzbekistan have reported that many children may have been infected with HIV inside a hospital.

Health authorities say an investigation into the infections of the mainly new-born babies is underway in the eastern town of Namangan.

Unsafe blood supplies and contaminated equipment are often blamed for spreading the infection in Uzbekistan, which has one of the fastest growing rates of the disease in central Asia.
